    I have the newegg GE63 Raider RGB-683.
My nvidia driver version 417.77 is acting weird and not giving me the option for dual screen.
I had my laptop closed and my 2560x1440 monitor connected via display port.
I opened my laptop, and noticed the screen was mirrored, but the laptop screen was running 2560x1440
    Interesting, huh?

Try the latest driver below. The other thing you can try is to set your external display as your primary display via display settings.

That doesn't surprise me, as I'm sure the screen can handle the bandwidth.

If you can create a custom resolutions in the Nvidia Control Panel, you can make a 1440p/144 profile and run your games downsampled by selecting it in the game setting.
