In looking myself at laptops, and into tablet PCs, theyt end to be fairly expensive. The least expensive ones I saw were Gateways, I'd check them out.

If you would really like a Tablet PC, perhaps you would like to check out our sister site TabletPCReview. I think the problem you are going to run into, there is an inverse relationship between the weight and its graphics prowess. Meaning the lighter it is, the less likely it will be able to play games well. Good Luck.

Tablet usually has lame graphic card compare to regular laptop. From what you said, i believe the Asus w3j would fit you best. Light, Fast, really nice graphic card, a head turner, and it just got refresh! ^_^

Check it out on Asus Forum. ETA is second week of April i believe

    Price should be around $1799

I would fill out the FAQ. What your looking for isn't very clear.

Unless you have a specific need, I think you are better off with a regular notebook. With the aforementioned Asus being a good option for something light with some gaming chops. The Sony SZ is worth a look, but may be beyond your budget.

yeah the sony is above my price rate.... I just need a really good SCHOOL laptop so I can take notes on it. Are the alienwares good? Is the Gateway Tablet fast? How about apple? I just need someone to say like wut i should buy..

It needs to be lightweight, have good graphics so i could play games on it and have some cool features.... Is the IBM thinkpad X41 good? Wut is the deal with the thumbprint thing?

If you want a ThinkPad, I would suggest the x60 as it has much better performance with the Core Duo and faster hard drive. They only have a pointing stick and no touchpad if that is a concern. Since you are in school you may qualify for some discounts.

If you do want to game, again I think the Asus W3j is your best bet, but is heavier than the X ThinkPad.

The fingerprint reader allows you to swipe your finger to logon. You can also use it for website passwords an such. I hardly use mine. I wouldn't pay extra for it.

I second the Asus. Should be available in about 3 weeks (around 4/16 according to ProPortable).

Wow you are lucky! I've owned laptops since middle school also but my first few were cheap hand me downs (used military micron PCs and IBMs and dells)

Well sony is overpriced and so is apple though they may look nice and all.

ASUS is as good as either of those two but cheaper.

Alienware-in my opinion they have the best styling of all of these models here. And they will be your best bet for performance and gaming and still portable. You can stay within your budget with one of these as well (I like the 5500)

My vote goes to alienware, I've heard service is so-so but personally if you take care of your machine and educate yourself you won't need it. In fact If I bought one I probably wouldn't bother with a warranty/service deal.
