    Hi,
I wanted to get an estimate of how much I could sell my laptop for.

    HP Pavilion dv5z
    Windows Vista Home Premium x64
AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-80 2.1 GHz CPU
    15.4" 1280x800 screen
    2 GB DDR2-800 RAM
    ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics
    160 GB hard drive

I've had it since the middle of September. Do you think I could sell it for around $500-600? Especially considering that you can't configure a new one with a turion ultra without spending over $700. I also have 4 GB of OCZ RAM but I'll probably just return it to Newegg.

    Thanks,
    Wesam

Please? Anyone? I really want to sell it so that I can build my own desktop, but if the loss is too great I won't be able to.

If you really want to sell your lappy, why dont you try NBR B/S/T rules.

I don't understand what I did wrong. I read the stickies for this forum and tried my best to apply them to my post even though they didn't mention anything about price checks. How many hoops do I have to jump through just to get an estimate of how much I can sell it for? Also, the other price check threads didn't seem much different than this. Could you tell me what it is exactly that I should have done differently?

I mean, if you really want to sell. so you can try BST rule, you may get good offers, if someone really interested. Else $500-$600 seem to be ok.

keep in mind that HP had a LOT of good coupons working for Dv5z and Dv5t - like the $300 off 999... alot of people saw great specs for under $700

I would estimate yours (with ultra and ONLY 2gb RAM - remember HP gave free upgrades to 3gb RAM) at only $480-520

The OP would want a price check first, to determine if it's worth his time, and our time, to start a FS thread. As most of us hunting for a laptop won't go into a price check flag, but a FS thread. And if the OP filled in a BST, with only 50% intention of selling it (depending on price), then it would be a hassle for everyone.

Just my 2 cent. I support price check posts..

Yes, I think you can get 500 for it. Maybe even a bit more, but not much.
