Hey I bought this notebook, then I caught a deal on a gateway 7811-fx. I can really only afford to keep one so I was thinking about putting the dell up for sale. If you could give me a ball park of what it would sell for it would be great.

    T8300
    DUAL GeForce 8700MGT
17 inch Wide Screen WUXGA TrueLife LCD Panel
    4 GB DDR2 SDRAM 677MHz
200 GB Free Fall Sensor Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
Media Bay 8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer writer
    AGEIA PhysX Physics Accelerator
just shy of 1 year warranty.

will it actually sell for that, it would be nice because I would not end up taking a loss for changing my mind and going with the gateway.

    Yep, if I had a spare $1300 - $1500, I'd spend it on your xps m1730. ;)

It's interesting that an XPS M1730 would be sold off instead of a Gateway that has sold for under $700.00 recently. :D I used to have an M1730 with dual 8800GTXs and sold it a week later. I guess I just wasn't that impressed compared to my M1710. I actually like the M1710 better except wish I could put in a better GPU and have 2 HDDs. I have a 7811 now as of last night and have to say that I am really impressed. I like the dual HDD option with RAID and the performance of the vid card is great for the price. I would have to say that roughly $1000.00 - $1200.00 would be reasonable. Honestly, I would say that the Gateway is a better all around laptop if you have one that works well. :D I REALLY don't like the battery sticking out of the back. Grrrr.... Good luck with your sale. -Goodspeed

Ya, I am kind of torn over which to get rid of, but in the end I think the gateway will sell for a bit less and I could use the extra cash. The dell is a nicer laptop, even thought the gateway has a 9800gts its just not built to the same standard. Cooling is better on the dell, it is quieter as well it can be upgraded to a sli set of 8800gtx.

High end notbooks are tough to price. Your machine is certainly worth around $1400, but finding the buyer who will want your machine at that price is the challenge.

You could try ebay with a "buy it now" of 1300, and see what happens.
