Search this forum for "Aftermarket mini PCIe SSD options for Precision M4500"
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...et-mini-pcie-ssd-options-precision-m4500.html

The one in my M4500 also reports as a Samsung SSD PM800 mSATA

Got my replacement M4500 today...sent the old one back yesterday.

This time, the M4500 does not look used or badly built in anyway so I can say it is a new laptop!

Made a full recovery via W7 first before doing a clean install.
What I noticed just before was that the mouse cusor was stuttering ...same issue as my previous laptop. Uninstalled DCP Security Manager - everythings fine.

After the clean install, I didn't install the security manager and no glitches with mouse.
On another clean install now as something happend just after the driver install where I then install Kaspersky 2011 internet suite. For some reason, the machine just froze after install. Cursor moved but you couldnt do anything.

Problem is without security manager = no fingerprint = not fit for purpose!
security manager installed = juddery cursor = unusable = not fit for purpose
    catch 22 :)

Talking of M4500 bios, it annoys me how long the M4500 bios takes to load compared to the M4400, it's two and half times the download size, almost like waiting for an OS to boot before the actual OS starts booting.
They also need a bios that is more aggressive with fan use imo, 76 degC cpu temp before the fan even decides to come on, it makes for hot notebook as the heat sinks through the bottom into my legs, it's got a great cooling system, why not actually use it, it's not like the fan is loud on the slowest speed.
I guess users who sit it on a desk 100% of the time wouldn't care, but I do

Does precision or latitude series laptop come with a (default or Optional) factory defaults restore image? Guys having precision, request you to please check and inform me.

Dell claims that they donot provide any factory default restore image in precision and latitude series..which is very hard to believe.

None on mine. Order the CD's when you buy, or create the backups when you get it.
Or, buy Acronis True Image Home 2010 and back everything up before you even boot up the first time. About $34 from Amazon. The CD is bootable and will back up everything, partitions and all. I know it works because I tried it.

I placed my order last night. Are the expected delivery times accurate? Typically on the servers I order they always arrive early. I'm expecting this to arrive later. The estimated day for shipping is the 12th. Normally the order has been confirmed right after it was acknowledge, this unit not so much. I'm going on 24 hours since the acknowledgement.

I have always received my machines at least one week earlier than the original estimate, but YMMV.
