Man, I wanted to do this. And once again, I'm having buyers' remorse because of all these negatives, in spite of the sheer performance of these machines. The fact that AMD might release an 8-core 7 nm CPU for notebooks next year makes me dread my purchase...

I chatted with Dell and asked if they can do any discount. They happyly offered $150 discount out of 1250. So the total was 1100 +tax.

There'll always be something new on the horizon. There are people here who have experienced problems with Dell's latest and greatest but it is a very small number compared to numbers sold of which I would imagine the majority are extremely happy.

There was even one post which said that the small issues he or she had were very minor when compared to how pleased he or she is with the machine.

All depends on how you look at things.

About the TB18DC though, is there anyone with this dock that's not experiencing issues?

Thinkpad p72 just released. even thinner than precision 7730, about same thickness of 7730's front edge. Kinda curious about the actually performance compare to 7730

I see the ThinkPad P1 now as well, a strong competitor to the Precision 5530. Wonder how long until they're both actually available to customize and buy. Both look extremely promising.

I am not experiencing any of the mouse/kb issues that have been reported, but occasionally when powering through the TB, my processor throttles as if it's on battery power. I don't see that issue when directly connecting AC power to the laptop. Usually, unplugging the TB connector and plugging back in resolves the throttling.

I see from the first articles about the P1 that it will support up to 64Gb RAM. I have been wondering since the 5530 launch whether it could support that amount of RAM or not but I was not able to find any convincing reply (being the chipset and the cpu the same between 7530 and 5530 I thought even the latter would have supported 64 Gb RAM...)

Hello there. Just got my 7730. It has 4 NVMe slots. Can anybody confirm whether all the 4 slots are usable in RAID? I can only see 3.of them, not the one near the RAM slots though. I have 4 Samsung 960 Pros that are the same but the 4th slot is not visible in the raid config screen.
