Maybe a typo on your side, as i was just talking about 7730.

About 7540, i've only seen users with uhd panel on the owners thread so far (and they're all 8bit panel, as this was also the case for 7530 as well).

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    >Dell Precision 7540

    15.6" UltraSharp™ FHD,1920x1080 Anti-Glare,Touch,w/Prem Panel Guar 100% sRGB,IPS,Cam/Mic,CarbonFiber
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    >Lenovo Thinkpad P53

    15.6" UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) OLED, 350 nits, multi-touch, AR/AS with Dolby Vision™ HDR 500, 100% DCI-P3 Color gamut
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    >HP Zbook 15 G6

15.6" diagonal UHD LED UWVA with FHD Webcam + IR slim Touchscreen (400 Nits)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From this, we can see Dell as the only top-brand not offering touch feature on UHD 15.6" panel but only on FHD (still 'old' carbon fiber lid though).

This time lenovo has made a great jump ahead, offering HDR400 feature even on 15.6" FHD display:
    15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare, 500 nits, Dolby Vision™ HDR 400, 72% Color gamut

So according to this article, they're the only brand currently offering native 8bit 15.6" FHD panels.

If you like backpack-style, I use this one for my 17" M6700 when traveling. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B06XT6PH6G
You can see in the fourth photo that there is a "laptop compartment" inside the main area of the bag. The M6700 does not fit in it, or at least I would have to struggle to make it fit. I put the laptop in the larger compartment above (where they have big white books or something) and use the smaller one for papers and the like. It works fine for me.

That's a good looking backpack. But I need a standard laptop bag with handles + shoulder strap.

Reminds me a little of how much work it was to find a laptop back for my 20" HP laptop a few years ago. Eventually one manufacturer made a 20" notebook bag but they were hard to find.

I’m running 1903. When any Adobe application (that uses the GPU) is minimised and idling, provided nothing else is running, I can get power draw down to:

My battery wear is at something like 15% (suddenly skyrocketed from 4% in one day, so it might be a calibration issue). I've also prevented the battery from charging to more than 80%.

@xklis, I'm curious; do you own a Precision notebook, or about to buy one?

Ah, see I use a lot of software which doesn't scale well at high DPI, so native FHD panels are a must for me. I'm constantly disappointed in Dell's choice as I do notice quite a bit of odd banding, only on certain colors of blue or orange.

I think I just misread what you wrote. I wanted to believe there was an 8bit FHD option on the 7540!

With integer scaling now implemented at the driver level, 4K screens downscaled to 1080p could be the way of the future. Now they just gotta add a touch option!

The latter is what i hope will happen soon. I'm just trying to gather as much info as i can from this forum.
You guys are always willing to help other users and i try to do the same if i feel i can give good advices thanks to what i'm learning here.

This year's pre-assembled dell precisions available in my country (the ones i can actually afford thanks to big discounts through online resellers) are a bit disappointing. All three 7540 configurations have an unacceptable 45% color gamut, while the only 7740 available has 9850h with rtx 3000 and carbon fiber lid (i was hoping for i9-9880h + aluminum lid at least). So i'll see if i can get a nice deal through a sales rep on the Black Friday week.

So do you have the regular battery on your 7530 or the long life one and you managed to find a solution to set charge limit on it ?

    or

Has anyone else had their video output black out once in a while?

My screen goes black once in a while when I connect it to the laptop, but not when it goes through the dock. Both HDMI and DP, both of my monitors.

No. Most of the time I use a Dock, but sometimes I use a Dell U2412 1900x1200 directly connected via DP to my 7730 which has only the Intel GPU, without black outs.
