I'm using the port that is right next to the one that came with a M.2 drive installed. Of the two that are together, it is the one that is closer to the battery, I think. It shouldn't really matter, SATA is supposed to work with any of the slots and I haven't heard anything to the contrary from people who have tried it.

Oh hey there man! How is it going? Sorry I missed your reply, been busy lately. Nice, I was actually thinking about it recently. That beast was the best laptop I've even owned. So much power, great cooling. Sigh, they just don't make such good stuff anymore. I'm still on the fence, not sure what to get.
    What's your main machine nowadays?

Thanks for the information regarding RAID, but let me ask some questions:
    1. What did you experien regarding the difference in performance between disk configuration version
    a. If 1 disk is installed (NO RAID obviously)
    b. 3 disk in RAID-0 (with Intel RST).

Why I am asking: because I've just bought a 7730 (with 1 x 256 GB NVMe SSD). Then I replaced this ssd with two Samsung PRO 970 1 TB put in slots 3 and 4 and organized a RAID-0 with Intel RST. I measured benchmark with CrystalDiskMark6 and realized that the RAID-0 performs slower then a single disk. I expected that the RAID-0 will produce twice better then the single disk. My older machine was Dell Precision M6400C and when I put in this machine 2 (SATA) SSD and organized RAID-0, the result was twice quicker disk performance then using 1 single disk.

Help — no Windows Hello on new 7530

Alright, folks, I received my new 7530 BTO with the regular, non-FIPS fingerprint reader. Out of the box, I immediately did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro x64. I've downloaded and installed the entire suite of Dell-provided drivers for the system, as far as I can tell, including the Dell ControlVault2 Driver and Firmware package version 4.9.24.58 , A15 from the support site.

Windows' Control Panel, however, tells me there is no Windows Hello functionality on the system. Any ideas? Where does the reader show up in Device Manager — I could at least check whether it's connected and active.

    Thanks in advance.

Here you go: there should be two devices in Device Manager, under 'Biometric Device' and 'ControlVault Device':

Thanks. Strangely, after rebooting multiple times (~4) these finally showed up and the Windows Hello dialog became available. New issue now, however—during the fingerprint enrollment process, it scans 5-6 times but then says “sorry, something went wrong” and won’t complete. This persists across restarts. Anyone?
