Hi all, so I'm checking back in as I said I would. So I've had the 1510 for a week and a half now and I'm really happy with the purchase. Bought for $1300 and incidentally they just knocked another $50 off to make it $1250, no price change on the 1710 though. It can run any and all games I throw at it and cooling is great. Even though I haven't measured any temps, it never runs hot enough for me to notice even when it's on my lap after like several hours of high performance games.

I like the sturdy chassis and keyboard, the screen is great minus some noticeable IPS glow which I can live with and the fans are very quiet at idle, only ever becoming audible when gaming. Also I can confirm there's no ability to set significantly higher custom refresh rates like you can on the 1710, but whatever I guess.

It did blue screen a couple times when setting things up initially (a couple older games and I hadn't configured the g-sync yet... so maybe it was just the games going nuclear who knows) but everything has been smooth sailing since. I'll keep an eye on it.

So yeah, at the price point I'm super happy with what I got. Would recommend.

I found a laptop with a 7820hk a 1080 and 32gbs of ram for under 2300 bucks. Its a lot more but I render video and I might lean towards it if the 1710 doesnt drop anymore. If the 1710 drops to 1300 or below il probably just snag it. That would be too good of a deal.

Is this a glossy or anti-glare screen? Thanks for the review update!

Maybe this is a stupid question, but with such great value, what's stopping someone from picking one of these units up and selling them at a profit? At the listed price of $1,500, this is still a steal and could easily be resold...

Lack of warranty? You could do that outside the country, which would make a warranty moot, but in the country? I'd say forget it.

Thanks! Funny that it doesn't mention that in the specifications.
