Mobo is a solid $120 (more if you want more functionality and better overclock), memory is $70, cpu cooler can be had for $30 and BR should be around $50. That leaves you more than enough money for a very decent GPU.

I'm curious: where would you import it FROM, though, in order for the whole transaction to make any sense?

Please be advised that I'm not implying that anything to do with one's passion has to make sense whatsoever...:D

Tell me if this seems dumb to you or not, I realize its an almost 2 year old MacBook, but I'm mainly just surfing the web and watching YouTube videos. Saving $200 off the cost of the cheapest current 15" and getting a 2TB time capsule. Yay or nay?

That doesn't really sound like it warrants buying a ~$1500 laptop, to be honest.
Especially not one that's already 2 years old.

It really doesn't honestly..Have been debating finally switching to Mac, been thinking about it for the last few years, and that was the cheapest 15" I could find. Specs still seemed good for that old of a laptop.

Some sort of backpack. I'm thinking of the Timbuk2 Q.

EDIT: Found a great deal on one on Amazon, bought it for free in essence. Just got the green version instead of blue/silver.

    1) You don't need to use a Time Capsule for OSX. I'd just grab whatever decent 2TB external drive is on sale and has good reviews.

    2) $1,449 for Internet surfing? If you're going to spend that much money, might as well get a tricked-out Thinkpad X1C or something like that. Personally, if that's all you're doing I'd be looking at other, less expensive laptops, with the only hard requirement being a decent FHD or better display. Everything else is a far, far second place in terms of priorities.

Why not consider an older mini? Certainly would be a lot cheaper.

A new laptop....maybe M6800 with 4800MQ and M6100 once they become available in the Outlet with a decent coupon. I've also been considering a Sager NP8265-S (Clevo P150SM) but I'm not sure I can make myself do it due to lacking on-site warranty, (relative) build quality and docking station.

Good to know. I am still a bit worried I will overtax that circuit. I will have to see what that breaker is pulling before I go adding to it.
