    Hi,

I have a dell precision m4500. When I run M4500A07.exe (the m4500 a07 bios update) I get a windows where it says that the utility will update the bios and firmware. I click OK, a loading bar appear and loads really fast and then nothing happens.

I've tried right clicking the executable and running as administrator and the same thing happens.

    Please help me.

    Thank you.

Try downloading the BIOS update again... it may be corrupt. Download via the browser, not using Dell's download manager whatever it is. And reboot, of course.

I've tried downloading the BIOS update again and it is still not working.

Also, I had uninstalled controlpoint and I reinstalled it thinking it might be blocking the installation but it is still not working.

Can someone please help me with this issue?

Is there password protection in the BIOS... on the BIOS?

    What is your current BIOS?

"This patch must be applied to the A01 BIOS in order to upgrade to A02 and beyond. Systems with the A02 BIOS or greater do not need to apply this patch."

If A01, then you need to apply the patch first.

Nobody said you did not have to apply the A07 BIOS update. You are confusing the issue.

Since you have the A04 BIOS installed, the A01 BIOS patch does not apply to you. So forget that... it is not your problem.

Boot and press F2 to enter the BIOS setup. Then search for any password protection.

If you've never done this before, I doubt there is any BIOS password protection set. I don't even know if that is a possible problem here, but it's a thought.

Other than booting DOS and trying the BIOS update from there, I'm out of ideas.
