Just as OT has a thread for automobiles, maybe OT should have a thread for aircraft as well.

Shouldn't it be "Aircraft Thread?" You don't want to discriminate our brothers helicopters, now do you?
It's 2015 after all - equal rights, SJWs, PC and everything :D.

The thread name does! I know what you've got good intentions, but SJWs might not understand it.

How about naming it The Spacecraft thread? We can then include interstellar vehicles, ICBMs and so forth.

Definitely one of my favorites, though if it wasn't canceled, I'd think the RAH-66 Comanche would be right up there with it:

I think Ka-58 would be more up Comanche's alley, though I'm not sure if it is/was more than a concept, whereas Comanche was a real deal.

Oh man, I think radji is gonna flip when he sees this thread tomorrow :D.

Do people think the US military will adopt the Sikorsky S-97 Raider, potentially as a high-speed replacement to either the Little Bird or the Black Hawk? With the Osprey, despite some initial doubts about the design's complexity, once used in combat by the USMC, it's proven essential. Greater airspeed and greater combat range means lives saved each and every day in a combat zone. I could see this being successful for similar reasons.

The Ka-58 was invented by the toy model company Zvedza (and later picked up by Revell and put into at least one video game). The helicopter company Kamov was not actually involved as far as I know. Completely fictional; not even a real-world concept aircraft.

Yeah, I have that exact same model :D.
But doesn't the article say that there was a concept for such aircraft?
