Windows 10 Build 16299.98 is out with KB4051963
This update only includes quality improvements and no new OS features. It comes with the following list of fixes.

      • Addressed a script-related issue that caused Internet Explorer to stop working in some cases.
      • Addressed issue with the Input Method Editor’s (IME) text input window for Internet Explorer.
      • Addressed issue with rendering a graphics element in Internet Explorer.
      • Addressed issue with form submissions in Internet Explorer.
      • Addressed issue where the Location-hash is lost when navigating back if you previously navigated to an invalid URL.
      • Addressed issue where applications may stop responding for customers who have internet or web proxies enabled using PAC script configurations. This is a result of a reentrancy deadlock in WinHTTP.dll. This can result in the following:
        • Microsoft Outlook cannot connect to Microsoft Office365.
        • Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge cannot successfully render any content (including local computer content, local network content, or web content).
        • Cisco Jabber stops responding, which blocks messaging and telephony features.
        • Any application or service that relies on WinHTTP is impacted.
      • Addressed a performance regression when users run full-screen Microsoft DirectX 9 games and applications.
      • Addressed issue that prevents Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 3 from running on some high-end gaming laptop configurations.
      • Addressed issue where user selections for Feedback Frequency in Settings > Privacy > Feedback & diagnostics aren't saved.
      • Addressed issue where RNDIS5 networking devices don't get a valid IP address or don't show network connectivity. If the issue continues after installing the update, you may need to uninstall and reinstall your Remote NDIS network adapter using Device Manager.
      • Addressed issue where if a user manually changes the system's time zone and doesn't log off or restart, the new time doesn't display on the Lockscreen clock.
      • Addressed issue that impacted some Epson SIDM (Dot Matrix) and TM (POS) printers, which were failing to print on x86 and x64-based systems. This issue affects KB4048955.

Is Classic Shell dead? Developer quits (Sun Dec 03, 2017)

The developer of Classic Shell announced yesterday on the official forum that he won't work on the program anymore. He provided three explanations for stopping development of the application:

      • Lack of free time because of other interests.
      • Windows 10 is updated too frequently (twice a year with a new feature update) which makes it difficult to keep up with the development, especially since updates break functionality of Classic Shell frequently.
      • Microsoft changing the core of Windows from being based on the classic Win32 programming model, and thereby making it more difficult for developers to achieve the level of customization that Classic Shell offers.
    Classic Shell Alternatives
There is a chance that no one will pick up development. There are a couple of alternatives available, especially for changing the Windows 8 or 10 start menu to a classic menu.

      • Pokki -- A custom start menu for Windows 8.
      • Spencer -- Adds a Windows XP start menu icon to the system.
      • Start10 -- The commercial application by Stardock restores the classic Windows start menu. It is available for a one-time cost of $4.99.
      • StartIsBack++ -- A free application that replaces the Windows start menu with a classic variant.
      • StartMenuX -- A free and commercial start menu replacement for Windows.
Classic Shell no longer in development. Source code released

Send a BIG thanks to the M$ MORONS Headquarters who forced Win services down our throats!!

The best Start Menu alternative is going down thanks to MS. I've tried them all, even the paid ones, nothing comes close to Classic Shell. It is literally the Windows 7 Start Menu ripped out of Windows 7 and put in Windows 10. It even behaves the same in the sense that it shows the most recently opened programs whereas others don't have that feature, once you remove a program from the recently opened, even if you open that program again and again, it never shows up on the recently opened programs again. That's where Classic Shell takes the cake and the fact that you can easily load all your previous Start Menu Settings in one go. Heck, I even edited the Default Programs shortcut in Classic Shell to display the old Classic Default Programs rather than the messed up Windows 10 PC settings version of it:

I really hope a new one can take over and continue with it due open source. Can't live with how default Win X looks and works. What other options can work similar without using process cycles?

Nvidia Driver 388.59 released if you want to update in OP.

ETA: Nevermind, thought you had the driver in the OP, but after going back and looking at it again I only see the GeForce Experience app in OP.

    Carry on!!!

Thanks man. Yeah I only add GFE because the Driver Update hawks are in the Graphics and Gaming Section posting the new drivers the moment they land on the nVIDIA Servers [IMG] [IMG]
