The safest bet if you want a Penryn processors is to wait until OEM's start offering them in notebooks.

problem is i have no idea how long its gonna take. Plus the M17x is looking prettty tempting. Along with that ive waited about six years for a new computer and im getting pissed off. lol Im stick with an entry level dell from 6 years ago which i literally have to feed silicon and electrical components to in order for it to run... Maybe ill let my starving dell munch on a new p4 and just wait it out.

Have you posted a WNSIB FAQ yet? If you haven't, you definitely should.

i just got my laptop in the mail today...should i have waited until these new chips drop? are they really gonna be that much of an improvement (i'm pretty much a non-gamer, occasionally play sim city/sims/warcraft3/civ4)?

    Ahhh.

I wonder when OEM's such as Dell, Lenovo, etc. will implement these chips into their laptops :|?

As a high school student, I'm thinking about buying a laptop, but I won't be earning the amount of money I'm willing to spend on a laptop (probably.. 1300-1500$), for a good 5-6 months.

Maybe they'll implement those chips by then? :D
