Just ordered a 15z-eh000 for $400 with 8GB, thinking I'd upgrade the memory cheaper than paying HP to do it. I have to open it up to replace the SSD anyway. (Ryzen 4700U for $400, FTW)

Notebookcheck claims the memory is soldered, isn't it socketed and replaceable?

Maintenance guide (this is the right one, isn't it?) says socketed:

Edit: prevailing thought on other forums is that the RAM is socketed, but not user accessible because you have to take the computer apart to get to where the RAM and SSD are located.

I'll update next month when it gets here.

Hey I bought same model on Black Friday, arrived today finally, thinking to upgrade to 16GB, trying to open the rear cover, already took off all 6 screws, but still can not find out how to take the back cover off, if you find out how, can you please post here how u do it? If I find out first, I'll share it here too. Thanks!

I got it done, the rear cover is ready to open after taking out 6 screws, just use a bit of force with caution. If need a video demo, search Reddit for 15z-eh000, a tread there somebody shared a video for this model. The RAM is socked instead of soldered, I put in 16GB and works very fine now, just FYI. Btw, I like this HP a lot, very affordable yet powerful, a great Black Friday deal.

That maintenance guide link is not correct, it is for 17" display and couple years old Intel processors.
