ok now to answer your question...yes your laptop is still good. it should run all games at or near high settings with 1 or 2 exceptions. I just bought a 1060 laptop for 1700 and your 980m is equal to it and you have a really fast cpu..don't worry about passmark as their is always a better laptop around the corner just be happy with what you have.....happy gaming and welcome to NBR

Thank you man much appreciated so if I want to check if I have defective hardware how do I check that ? The reason why I’m curious my laptops plays any game out right now but apex legends crashes this laptop I bought it off Facebook marketplace like three years back for 1000 Canadian I recently repasted it because I noticed it was thermal throttling while playing apex when I opened the laptop I did not touch the thermal pads so I’m not sure if I need to replace the thermal pads that’s causing apex to crash, if I use msi after burner and I underclock my gpu memory the game does not crash so that’s why I’m looking for a software to test if the card has a problem or not. It passes all the Alienware stress test just not sure why I have to underclock my gpu to play apex legends crash free.

All my temps are ok but it’s just that since the laptop is this old I’m not sure if the thermal pads could be causing this problem also I’m not even sure what kind of thermal pads to get for my system

Yes it could be the memory..if you have tested different drivers. You could always try new thermal pads...if it's just apex then it's likely drivers if your temps are ok...worst case scenario is you might just have to under clock your memory for that one game and it will barely affect performance..if you own Crysis 1 test that game out as it will show you what most games don't that is hardware defects....if you notice nothing then your GPU is likely fine....if it crashes or shows artifacts you may be close to having a dead gpu

I tried max setting on crysis 3 and it runs fine
40 FPS but still smooth, I tried a tons of drivers for apex underclocking is the only way

not crysis three but crysis one..it could be your card but crysis one will tell you whats what its generally the best method to test a card...I had intergrated graphics and it would artifact when using AA and eventually that laptop went the way of the dodo

Hey man so i got crysis one and run it very high settings no artifacts but like 4 mins in then it goes back to the desktop but heat is like 65 degrees on the gpu, do you think the thermal pads could be causing this or is it the gpu days coming to an end ?

Update I think something was corrupted I reinstalled it so far ten mins no crash I’ll keep you updated will play for a few hours .
