I may wait a bit longer to at least see what comes of it, but I've been living without a gaming PC for half a year and am about to lose it. :D

@irfan wikaputra, Pretty much. That's the price you pay for that desire to have the absolute latest and greatest.

I'd start a Volta thread, but everyone would be upset and start hating. Though, I do have plenty to share. ;)

6 months before the Kabylake Series 200 motherboard upgrade, and Pascal refresh.

12 months before the Cannondale / Volta upgrade.

Well @Prema did say the performance will depend on the chassis. I wonder how will it perform in the P870DM

Kaby Lake is essentially Skylake with a tiny boost in clocks. I don't see why everyone is so desperate to have it. It will provide you with a negligible gains in performance.

You should be waiting for (or desperate for) Cannonlake along with Volta. :p REAL change.

By the way, What do you think? 1080 (single) will be compatible with P870DM (980/980M/970M)? Or at least with dual 1070s?

Single 1080 because you always have the option to add another, and SLI is problematic with a lot of titles (for now). Unless you just want bragging rights for about a year.

It's not like it will just erupt into flames when Volta is available for purchase.
