These sound way too optimistic. :)

Not sure about how much of this is due to US vs Europe pricing differences, but here in EU it could be more something like this (also min-specs):

GTX 1060 notebooks start from ~1,600 EUR
GTX 1070 notebooks start from ~1,900 EUR
GTX 1080 notebooks start from ~2,500 EUR

My guess on prices in USD:

    1060 - 1500-1800$
    1070 - 2100-2500$
    1080 - 2800+$

Errr an SLI machine would have to be able to disable optimus when running two cards, it would just be on the go when you need a bit of extra battery life.

Honestly you are all working yourselves up far too much and need to calm down and think things through.

Man, everything is perfect for me, but no optimus.

I'll hate that to the end of the earth. It's useless on a power machine. Really bad.

What's even worse is that on most machines it can't be disabled. That is the problem. If we can disable optimus, it's ok.

Thanks for all the posts and discussion here.
... but shows just 1 power port

    Agreed.

So far as I know, Optimus introduces too much latency to be VR Ready. Likewise, G-Sync requires the display be connected directly to the dGPU with no Optimus routing through iGPU. I'd love to see the battery life and transcoding efficiency Optimus brings plus the option to enable a gaming GPU that's VR Ready, but it seems unlikely. Can't have it all. Perhaps if different displays are connected to different GPUs, maybe multiplexed?

At 12lbs with dual power adapters, I wouldn't think of this as portable so much as occasionally transportable / luggable.

Overall, the ad looks like an early draft, work in progress. It's encouraging and fun to imagine, but nothing to count on.

I believe that a separate adapter merges the power supply from the two PSUs into a single cable - hence the single power port.

I never dream a 970m would be in a 14" either. I thought that was the new trend. One can dream.
