MSI 1070 MXM3.0b exists because of the GT80 980M SLI machine, with their upgrade policy. As "some of us" had expected because of the leaks / MSI promise / TDP / 980M successor, this is confirmed.

Follow the P870DM2/3 thread for more info on Pascal and DTR scene ;)

Now I'm thinking about putting that wicked thing into the M18x R2 - 39xxXM + 1070 SLI :p ? Where are you BGA overlords ? and Mr. Frank you can leave Alienware now with your Echo bullcrap lineup and that stupid new Aurora.

Also lets smoke that X-Box Scorpio ;) !!

If the 1070 SLI cards are truly mxm 3.0b and work in the M18x, then I'll be buying four. Two for me (P870DM) and two my friend will buy for the M18x. :D

Honestly, if Alienware redesigns the Alienware 13 to support a quad-core and a GTX 1060, I think it would be a "decent" 13" gaming laptop.

I hate BGA as much as the next guy, but let's be real... The 13" gaming laptop market is not that impressive. In fact, if they are able to do this, I would consider purchasing it as a portable gaming solution for myself, just to hold out until I finish college (along with a decent desktop). A dual-core is FAR too weak to support a 1060, though. So, that's where I draw the line.

It will be an interesting month!

$2200 might be possible for the cheapest 1070 laptop so most likely with a small ssd like 128go. 512gb ssd probably an extra $500 I think. But again it's just a guess.

My guess on pricing is as follows (as base configurations with a single-GPU because companies love to overcharge for upgrades):

    1060M/1060 laptops start around $1199-$1299.
    1070M/1070 laptops start around $1499-$1599.
    1080M/1080 laptops start around $1999-$2199.

Again, with minimal specs. I'm assuming they'll easily go up several hundred dollars from there.

I don't think that makes sense. The 980m started around 1900ish and the 1070 is the replacement for it. The 1080 is going to be like the 980 which starts more in the 2500 dollar range.

Your pricing in my opinion would be a price drop at each tier, which I find extremely unlikely from nGreedia.

Edit: that being said I hope your right lol.

    I've seen only one thing.

That the MSI laptop will feature optimus on 1080. Totally lost my entire interest in MSI, it's Acer and Clevo now :D

Why not have optimus if you can?

    Writen a few pages back

it increases both present and render time, adds complexity to the path of the information, decreases performance on GPU processing.

Practically makes everything worse for free!

Optimus is the death of laptops. some software needs special flags to enter GPU processing route, flags which are backwards to set sometimes, and all performance is decreased significantly.
