Oh well, having fully enabled GP104 core is the most important thing in order to be (almost) on par with stock desktop 1080 at 1080p/1440p.

My next laptop will have GTX 1080, i7-6700K (or i7-7700K depending on Kaby Lake release date), 16GB DDR4 RAM and a 1080p G-SYNC display panel. No matter the cost, dammit. It is known

My dream configuration, too. Screw 4K, we don't need it in 17" screens :)

I'd love to see some SLI laptops with a 1080p/1440p 120Hz/144Hz display.

however, most gaming laptop manufacturer forgot to upgrade their Screen resolution
for this powerful gpu, they should at least make 2560 x 1440 (1440P) as standard
and 4K UHD resolution as optional with reasonable additional price (hopefully)
it's useless anyway having gtx 970M and above in FHD screen, forget about pascal lol
on a side note, A GTX 1070 SLI desktop+i7-6700K+Z170 Mobo can be purchased at 1800$
makes me want to jump the boat to desktop side
    decision decision
Nvidia makes our life difficult lol

IMHO with the pascal performance this much, it is more than adequate for an SLI pascal to have Standard 4K screen :D
    my next dream laptop :
    Dual GTX 1080 SLI (desktop class) + i7-6700K + 2xSamsung SM951 256GB (i already have) + 4K UHD 120Hz Screen :D:D:D
I couldn't careless bout the other components lol

MSI has the Aegis barebones desktop computer, a nice compact solution that comes with a carry handle, only $499 US :)

MSI Aegis X-001BUS Supports Intel 6th Gen CPU (including K series processors) Intel Z170 Supports up to a two-slot design of graphics card up to a NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1080 (not Included) 1 x HDMI Barebone System

MSI has a VR HDMI pass-through to the front of the Aegis X case.

MSI also has a fully built Aegis model with a 1080:

You kinda get a laptop vibe from the tiny Aegis, it uses laptop SODIMM memory, but lets you use a cheaper PCI-E video card and a desktop socket CPU. All upgradable.

I beg to differ. My 980M can only barely keep above 30fps in Rise Of The Tomb Raider at 1080p with all the bells and whistles enabled (like VXAO). Needs to be a locked 60fps at 1080p to satisfy me

Forget these, they don't update those and they aren't always maxing out.

I saw the GW2 values for 970m and was burned in game when maxing out kicked me below 30fps unlike the 49fps from notebookcheck.

You can use them as vague reference, but beware changes since their "bench".
