    Its likely a temperature issue that will be better with AIB cards.

    @Ethrem's birdy was right ;)

    I've seen some temps get to 93 degrees in the benchmarks. That's scoldering for such a short period.

    any idea how the 1080 would compare to a 980 ti in video editing or gpu accelerated programs besides the extra vram?

    Probably good. Depends on what you do actually, video editing is very resource intensive when encoding, not in the actual editing process. Maybe better than a 980ti, but by a small margin ?

    Overclocked Nvidia GTX 1080 VS 980 Ti | Benchmarks & SLI - Various Games - starts at 00:50 (ad first)

    The first test shows a nice difference between 1080/980Ti, ...the rest, not so much improvement over a 980ti at 4k.

    The first video I have seen so far that actually shows what we need to see, the real world performance difference.

    Update: Better performance in other videos, @ 4k/1440p/1080p

    It's new Video encode/decode block automatically makes it better than older cards but it's OpenCL performance is worse than 980Ti, and lags behind a lot of GCN cards.

    That accelero thing looks big and uncomfortable for a case, but if it does it's job, then we should sign up for them.

    I am still looking forward for aftermarket embedded cooling solutions.
