You better do a wPrime, Cinebench, 3DMark 11, 3DMark Fire Strike and 3DMark Time Spy run when you have them all set-up!

Which motherboard you going for? ASUS dual socket?

Yet the Quadro M5500 (full GM204 core [2048 cores]) has a 150W TDP, no external power needed and is in standard mxm 3.0b format. Makes you wonder why the others couldn't have been the same way.

Yeah still deciding between an ASUS WS or a Supermicro board. Though leaning towards the ASUS. Got both these chips from a workstation at work with a dead motherboard, someone kicked the system and Dell refused RMA xD

    LOL

    I'm assuming this one? https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z10PED16_WS/

The ASUS one is nice and supports SLI as well if you want to make it a monster gaming rig as well. I don't know if I've seen a dual socket supermicro with SLI support.

It was actually the D8 , but the D16 seems to be more future proof. For some reason i missed it.
Only thing im worried about is that a lot of people have mentioned that D8 had issues with Linux , and i will be having a Scientific Linux install along side W7 and W10. So still gotta look into all of that. Super Micro however seem to work without issues with Linux distros.

that's more then the MXM 3.0B slot can deliver. At best it can dish out like 125W usually.

Just to share with you the numbers that led to the recent decisions:

According to Nvidia HQ only 1% of their user base cares about upgrading GPUs on mobile systems...
