Does anytime know if this notebook is 40pin capable or at least how to remove the ribbon to check? 20180309_230046.jpg It seems to be firmly planted and I'd assume you just pull straight up on it, but it doesn't seem to want to budge. Any help would be appreciated.

It's a pull tab, it should just pop off. The fit on it is suppose to be tight. I know the Clevo base model has some configs with a 40 pin for 4K panels, so I would say "yes".

Indeed, it's a 4-lane/4K capable system. Note that the connector itself is only 30-pin; bottom left is pin '1' and bottom right is labeled '30' on the board. That's because although the panels are 40-pin they do not actually need all 40 pins populated (some are 'factory-only').

So, how do you go about hooking a 40pin panel with the 30pin connector?

The 30 pin cable is the motherboard end and the 40 pin part is the display cable end.

Models often have two possible cable options so a separate cable for the 40 pin panel will be needed.

Is there a specific part/model number for the particular cable? The Clevo service manual part number doesn't show any results in a search.

It's not a part we actually use.

Found the cable needed for a 40pin display, be it 120hz or 4K for future reference if anyone needs it, or you know, if some resellers wanna put other panels in as an option hint hint. It's the 6-43-N87K1-010-1N 4K cable. It's 30pin on the board side, 40pin on the panel connector.

After having my GPU fry out and getting it RMA'd, and waiting for the parts, finally got it replaced. New display looks a lot better and doesn't have as many white spots on the edges as the original panel, which was a bit of an issue I had with it.
