Once you try it, you won't go back. You can ask @Mr. Fox; I legitimately considered the P870DM a "sidegrade" to this system of mine PURELY based on the point that I could not have 120Hz internally, and that I would have to rely on overclocking a sub-par 25ms response time panel (IPS or not).

Find out from them. If the question is 1080p 60Hz, then I suggest you find a different reseller and get 1080p 120Hz. I'm going to be that brutal about it =D.

4K on small screens is somewhat of a pointless endeavour, yes. Now, I've used DSR for 4K before. I've been able to deal with reading the text and whatnot, but I have very good eyes. I still wouldn't consider it a basic use scenario unless I realllly needed the screen real estate for productivity. Unless you really know you want/need it, I would say you'd do better to not get it.

Again however this is my opinion.

Sure. It's not that I'm not familiar with 120Hz and while I'm not nearly as focused on reaping its benefits as you are, I do find it a nice option to have. Nevertheless, I just don't have such alternative options here in the U.K., and given the state of V.A.T. and other sporadic import hassles, I just can't see myself importing from the ideal sellers. Unfortunately, this also means that the whole 'Go Prema' package options are also quite limited (and by that, I mean virtually non-existent, save for one Polish retailer, which doesn't seem likely at the moment) on this end, otherwise I'd be in quite a different position. As such, I have what I have on offer and the seller lists the panel as 60Hz. I suspect they themselves might not have the correct listing.

Thanks much for your worthwhile input on this matter, it is definitely appreciated. I tend to agree with you on 4K being somewhat pointless. I have tried the D.S.R. approach and while I can handle it, I think it's rather frivolous on a relatively small screen.

I see, thanks for that, again. Does anyone have any idea on version 1.1, or is that a mistake? The online support staff don't appear to know much about this screen and insist that it is 1.1, which doesn't unearth any results (yet 1.0 does). I get the impression that it is a typo in the listing, or I could be wrong.

What about mySN.co.uk? Or Scan laptops UK? I believe their 3XS models are the Clevo rebrands. Also, I think there's a place called Vortex PC somewhere around there.

With respect, neither of these two comments are accurate. 4K is stocked by some companies, you just need to know where to look - for example we have it in stock for UK and Germany and everywhere that the .de site sells to :) Also the reasoning for "some" direct Clevo customers to not purchase the 120Hz panel could be because it doesn't support G-Sync, but there are several other reasons based around stock deliveries, panel availability, future hardware options which haven't been released yet etc etc. I can't go into any more details unfortunately because it would only really make sense to companies who purchase direct from Clevo.

Thanks, but Scan's 3XS does not offer what is required in terms of wider LCD and Prema Bios options, while mySN.co.uk is going to cost much more for the same specification in comparison to what I am getting right now through PCSpecialist. There are certainly a few rebrand offerings on the market here, but what they offer doesn't always cover what we've discussed. Currently, I've had to pick more out of difference in pricing and warranty options.

Anyway, I have modified the order and opted for the 1080p screen, and the difference has been refunded.

Just a note, while yes a 4K screen will need scaling, 1080 sli can certainly play games at 4K, and they'll look way way crisper. That's the difference no one seemed to talk about. The 4K display for daily usage would definitely need scaling. I think you'll be happy with the high refresh rate 1080p screen though, I just wanted to show what the point of a 4K screen is since everyone seemed to gloss over that.

There shouldn't be too much of a price difference, but we do have a better warranty as standard and other benefits such as guaranteed 48h RMA and so on.

The issue with Prema BIOS is that companies like us and some of the others mentioned in this thread are direct Clevo customers, as a result of this it would be very detrimental to our relationships with Clevo if we offer hacked versions of the Clevo BIOS. I'm not taking anything at all away from Prema and I like to think that we still have a friendly relationship with him, but a reseller will always have more flexability in these kind of areas than a direct Clevo customer purely because we have to take different considerations into account.
