I find myself in a situation where my order (with PCSpecialist.co.uk) for a P870DM3 has been stuck in pre-production for over two weeks because they are out of 4k panels and there is no confirmation on when new stock can be expected.

They also confirmed that modifying to the 1080p panel would allow the production to progress forward as these are available. Honestly, I just opted for the 4k panel because it was being offered for a relatively low price difference than other local competitors. The price difference between the 4k and 1080p panels being £99 in this case.

Would it be advisable to wait a bit longer for some kind of update on the 4K panels or is the 1080p panel a likely better choice? I ask this because I've heard various anecdotes praising the broader quality and resilience of the 1080p screen (in terms of refresh rate overclocking, etc.) in comparison to some of the inherent limitations of the 4K panel. Again, any insights -- and even advice -- on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I can't see why you would want the 4K panel in the first place. The 1080p panel should be 120Hz; I'd take it in a heartbeat if gaming was what you desired with the machine.

Be wary you're pretty much asking opinion here.

But isn't, is normally 75hz display. European Distributors dont ordered 120hz, because is without g-sync

    Thanks for that information!

Edit: And the added clarification on the refresh rate.

Yes, it is a matter of personal opinion to quite a degree. As for your answer, I'm not really one who tends to push things into the 120Hz region, but having such an option is always a plus. Of course, according to the reseller's website, the 1080p panel is also 60Hz, so, the situation is a bit less straight forward. Until and unless you are talking about the potential for LCD overclocking, in which case, I'd certainly like to hear more about such potential in a 1080p panel versus a 4k panel.

I also get the impression that -- assuming for the sake of argument that all else is equal -- a 4k panel might be slightly pointless on a relatively small 17 inch screen. Would you agree?

I am curious about something. When it comes to 4k, are you guys offering the panel model AUO B173ZAN01.1?

    Thanks for your response.

Am I correct in assuming that the '.1' in the AUO B173ZAN01.1 is a possible typo? Otherwise, is there a difference between the two panels?
