I'm in my 50's and I can barely see them. (That's why my wife was trying to help with the magnifying glass).

While I might try to find some way to try to fix the pins, based on the fact that it wasn't POSTing before this added damage and I am not very hopeful about getting it to work.

A replacement MB may be the only way that this machine will run again.

    :/

    We don't have kids.

And like I said, with the fact that it was failing to boot before the socket damage, I might straighten them but never know if the pins were right "enough" or if something else were still keeping it from POSTing.

I would straighten the pins, manually flash the BIOS and try again. It would also give you a chance to go over the motherboard with a fine tooth comb and make sure you don't see anything out of the ordinary.

Worth a shot, that or a new motherboard I guess.

Unfortunately there are literally dozens of pins smashed flat and I really can't see them clearly enough to work on them.

I miss the old days when the pins were on the processor. You could pick that up and view the pins from literally any angle to see if they needed correction.

Tricky to do with rising pin counts.
