What are the best thermal pads for my laptop? And which ones to buy? I've seen several heights. 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm and 3mm. Which ones should I buy? My laptop is 2 years old and I never replaced them. So to avoid future problems I'd like to purchase new ones. Thanks in advance

    Sizes are in millimeters btw

If you have high ambient temps and changing temps both inside and outside your house choose Arctic(0.5mm,1mm and 1.5mm) or Gelid pads(available in most sizes(mm)). Otherwise if you're a Pro choose Fujipoly pads which are brittle and needs replacing if you repaste often. Gelid and arctic survive even after multiple teardowns.

The softer pads will give more consistent good contact.

They are a bit expensive but I've had good luck with the Gelid pads. They are soft enough to deform a bit and are not too brittle so they will last a while. They will start to harden after a long time though, but it won't be an issue if you keep your heatsink in place for long periods.

Thank you everyone for your comments!

So, 0.5mm, 1mm and 1.5mm are enough right? I'm going for ARCTIC ones.

A sheet of each of those should have you covered.
