So, I got a laptop from notebookguru recently (germany) and now it started overheating.
Its an I7-6700 with 24GB of ram and a 970m nvidia. I play some lighter games like WOW and LOL and do statistics and data sim in R (hence the RAM needed).

It has the best cooling paste available and all the vents are clear. Today it shut down so i decided to ask around.
I was playing a game (League of Legends) and listening to youtube in the background and the screen just went black. I repeated the process using CPU-temp and saw that it gets SUPER high if I game and watch youtube at the same time. It seems that they both just hog the core1
Now this is a top end laptop, this shouldnt be happening. I had no issue doing this on an i3 6GB lenovo with an nvidia 530m.

Anyone this happened to before? What could be the cause? All help appreciated.

100+ celsius according to CPU temp. The CPU temp icon gets red and soon after it shuts down.

There is something definitely wrong. No way should the CPU get that hot under normal usage. Is the fan working? You can monitor/test this with HWInfo64.

You should start with the repast even if it worked fine until now

At times, the factory applied thermal paste sucks, many people here recommend repasting yourself with IC Diamond (good for beginners, easy to apply and effective) as soon as you get the notebook shipped.
