    Hi there,

i am trying to update my BIOS so that i can get the Nvidia 860 GTX card to work.

I am following the guides and when trying to flash bios in DOS screen, i am getting warning prompt about compatibility issues of 32 / 64 bit ?

What could be going wrong ?

u wont have a lot of luck getting the 860M working on the HM series...unless it was a typo and ure talking about the 680M ;)

in a DOS environment, 32/64 bit shouldnt matter. but ull actually have to be IN DOS and NOT just start a command window inside windows ;)

best to boot into dos from a usb stick and then flash there

well then youre out of luck, i havent seen a single success story in making the 800M series function on the HM series. same goes for 700M and 900M series!

nvidia 400M, 500M, 600M, as well as AMD 6000M and 7000M series work in the HM machines. also, the equivalent Nvidia Quadro and AMD FirePro cards work

Did you try to bake your HD 6990 in the oven?
That rescued mine. I baked it for 8 minutes @195°C.

I am trying to install a GTX680 in my Sager 8170 (P170HMx). I cant seem to get past the 2 beeps from restart after installing my card. I have the vBIOS flash ready to go but my laptop doesn't go past the boot screen except to an infinite blinking cursor. Here is what I am working with:

    Aptio AMI 2010 version 2.10.1208
    BIOS: 1.01.10LS2
    KBC / EC: 1.00.09SA2
    Motherboard: P170HMx

This is what is listed in my BIOS boot. I have set it to boot from usb. When I leave my ATI 6990m card in, it will boot to the usb and let me proceed if I want. I bought an NVIDIA GTX680 card from ebay. The vBIOS version is : 80:04:67:00:01. I have been looking for a BIOS to flash my Sager system with in hopes it will populate the 680 card, so I can backwards flash it in hopes of getting it to work. Can someone please give me some guidance on how to go about this the proper way.I feel like I have overlooked something. Also when I purchased the 680GTX the seller said it was from a Clevo system.....If that helps.........

    Thanks in advance....V/R Brien

could be that u have one of those vbios versions that are "barely" compatible with the HM series. u should let the laptop sit for a while, could be that it will eventually finish a proper boot. just be aware that it takes quite a while, so just let it sit overnight or smth like that... for more details, @Prema is the man to contact, unfortunately im not in the know concerning the 680M, i was more of a 7970M kinda guy ;)
