    I can't help it Mnem....
just as an aside, and word of wisdom: old hard drives and broken craptops are frequent target practice for several of the gun toting techis in this sub-forum. I"m not judging you.... just putting it out there.

And yes, I personally do believe him to be a responsible model in many fashions. I have found in my short life, that we've gotten too PC, too sensative, and too worried about "feelings". This man is not a mould to just conform to, but he does portray many qualities that would serve almost any young man well to possess themselves. IMHO.

Then again, IMHO, we should use a shovel to knock out many of these effeminate males in the youth of today, and shave that crap off their head & out of thier eyes (says the wierdo with shells braided into his goatee).

    just a thought.

I'm working on the road, and have spoke very little to my wife in the last week. I did post a link to the video in question, on my FB page. The following is what my wife commented to on that link. *edited for content*
Check out my last post before this one.
Like it or not, my wife and I think the same.

Where was the lack of gun safety? I am a multi-certified firearms instructor of over 30 years experience and I fail to see it.

Smoking and wearing a cowboy hat, so what? Not my taste, but not illegal or immoral in any way.

I do not believe that children own "personal property" otherwise you could never take it away from them. As to his destroying it, well it is HIS, he can do what he likes, without any of our approval and the way that he choose to do it is why this video went viral?

However we are all entitled to our own opinion, but clearly yours is a minority view in this matter. :)

I agree, as a multiple certified L.E. firearms instructor, no safety violations, and I have disposed of old hard drives in the same manner numerous times.

I don't think that most people who run firing ranges would tolerate someone in that state of mind. His speech is angry and rambling if somewhat coherent. I can't tell if he's mentally altered and/or intoxicated from the video since it's shot POV. He's even a little confused as to how many shots he's fired and how many he has left.

Then you have the issue of the location. It seems to be a backyard, possibly in proximity to a dwelling. Again, it's hard to tell from the video, but it sure doesn't look like a firing range.

Oh, and he's engaging in close range target practice against a laptop computer? Alarm bells are going off? Hmmmm? Ever see a firing range where people are shooting targets that are near their feet? Not smart.

This is not how a responsible gun owner acts.

Not immoral, but there again, there was nothing immoral about the Facebook post that he took offense to.

And I don't think that smoking is a behavior that this supposedly concerned father should be demonstrating.

How do you expect a child to ever gain a sense of personal responsibility if you don't allow the child to understand the concept of ownership? It's one thing to take a toy away from a toddler, but when you're dealing with an adolescent, you're dealing with a person that's on the cusp of adult responsibilities and obligations.

So great, it was HIS laptop computer? If so, why was he demanding repayment from the daughter? It's pretty clear that this man has serious boundary issues, both in terms of interpersonal relationships and personal property.

Most people are probably amused by this man. Between the southern accent, the cowboy hat, the smoking, profanity, illogical ranting and finally, the gun play, this one man personifies a whole range of negative stereotypes. The man is a walking Jeff Foxworthy joke.

Personally, I don't think he's funny, since it's clear that real people have to live with this insecure little man. I think we can all figure out the Freudian interpretation of the gun. I see a small, insecure man, demanding respect, but deserving little. He's obviously feels inadequate, hence this very odd and troubling display.

Wow. You got all this from a 5-minute video. Man, you sure are some kind of crackerjack psychoanalyst. Don't quit your day job.

I fear for your family and anyone who is forced to work under your direction; for you are a self-important, judgmental little peckerhead in much the same flavor as you paint this man to be. And that is my professional opinion.

If you have something of value to contribute to the group, pull up a chair and sit a spell. We'd like to hear what you've got to say. But you have a whole 2 posts in our forum, both of which have been inflammatory and in this thread. You'll forgive us if we discount the impartiality of your comments. Otherwise, please take your dime-novel analysis back wherever you languish most of the time, we don't need you forum-diving down here and trolling us in this fashion; I for one am not impressed by your PC-ness. We may be simple folk with but a few Engineering degrees between us, but we sure aren't dumb enough that we don't know the difference between bucolic and stupid.

AND I have to say, thank you, Dwagon: i don't know too many people that make me have to look up the meanings of words they use.
    Learning good.
