Hi, folks. I recently purchased an Omen 17 that includes a 500gb NVMe SSD but no additional data drive. I want to buy one myself to install, but it looks like I'm going to need the brackets and connectors. HP does sell these, but the prices seem ludicrous. I would like your opinions on what generic parts I need to buy that will fulfill the same functions.

Here are HP's direct options for these parts:

Would something like this be comparable for the brackets? Thanks for your assistance.

I feel bad for people who bought a SSD without HDD because installing a HDD later is a pain.
I recently bought a Pavilion with everything stock (no upgrades).
Installing a m.2 SSD was comparitively easy.
The only thing (which was missing) when I installed a m.2 SSD is the screw to secure it.
Fortunately, the 10 screws, on the backside, are the exact same side as needed for the m.2 SSD.
I just used one of them.

It's a shame that if you dont buy a HDD with your HP laptop/notebook, then some vital parts are missings.

Sorry about the delayed response, namaiki. The parts direct from HP are as follows:

    Part# Description Price
    862964-001 CABLE, HDD SUP - for 1.1 SuperPower $47.50
    911227-001 HDD BRACKETS W/ RUBBER SUP - for 1.1 SuperPower $51.30

    The prices seem extortionary.

Hmm, yeah you could try get the cable off eBay or third party sites but it seems hard to find. The brackets you don't really need if you feel comfortable with making something up. Or if you are going to install an SSD drive you could probably just tape it in.

The Frys bracket is for a desktop and is way too large. From the pictures the "bracket" inside of your laptop just looks like a layer of rubbers around the hard drive for protection.
