Ok I have here a really old Sony Vaio, from when ME was the top OS. The tage for it is pcg-954a, I got it from a friend who said that, it never worker for him after he got some virus on it. So I took out the hard drive as the drive would not reformat. But now I don't know what to do, I have an AC charger for it to keep it on, but I don't know the next step in restoring it. Any ideas?

Download Hiren BootCD, write it to CD. Put back the HDD inside the laptop, boot with Hiren BootCD & check for bad sectors with HDD Regenerator. After that you can try to format using partition programs in that CD.
