Did I ever say ignore it and continue to drive it??????????? I believe I've told her to check it and refill some oil.

You should always check the oil level even without the oil light warning.

Sorry 'bout that........... Just trying to emphasize the importance of not ignoring low oil lights. I was not suggesting you were at fault.

Oil light goes on when oil pressure is low, not exactly when the oil level is low. Dipstick is used to check oil levels.

You said it hasnt even been 3,000miles since your last oil change and your car has done over 150,000 miles.

$5 says your oil pump is on its way out, either that or your car is leaking.

I believe that is an oil pressure light, which could mean that your low on oil, or that your oil is old and needs replaced.

First thing to do would be to check the oil, if its not low then I would suggest getting it changed. If the light still comes on with new oil at appropriate levels then you've got a bigger problem.

Or, even worse, the engine is using/burning oil (seals/rings are worn allowing oil to get into the combustion chamber...where only gasoline and air should be)! If you see white smoke when from the exhaust when you cold start it in the morning, that's a BAD sign.....

Maybe it's just a leak....don't drive it any more until you have a chance to check the oil level...friendly advice! :) ;)

Yes the light is for oil pressure, but a very low oil level can cause that light to come on as well.

90% of Honda engines burn oil, it doesn't mean it's always something worse.
