I just had a funny idea for a 1060 upgrade... will a Slave GPU fan and sink mount and run without having a card underneath? I was just looking at n=1's old 9380 Cooling Overhaul thread
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-p370sm-sager-np9380-cooling-overhaul.757446/
where he popped in a P370EM three-pipe combined CPU/slave GPU sink and wondered if, without having a Slave GPU to cool anymore, that amount of metal plus two fans might add up to a much better CPU-only cooler.

IIRC it will just not run the fan without the second thermal signal.

Will Fn-1 still crank the fan to full even without thermal signal? Or could I sneak in a Y-cable to run both CPU and ex-Slave GPU fans from the CPU fan plugin?

I'm not sure about the power rating of the header and if it will cope. FN + 1 might still work.

Have a play as I might be misremembering.

    Hi everyone.

Can someone tell me if it's a straightforward process to upgrade a GTX 780m in my Clevo P370sm to a GTX 980m?

My understanding is that mechanically the 980 will fit but I've also read that I would need to somehow update my laptop's software in order to be able use the new card. I've read something about a Prema mod which would help but I'm unclear exactly as to the specifics.

Anyone able to enlighten me further?

I think a 1060 mxm-b might actually be your best option.

    Can I ask why?

Incidentally can you recommend a place to buy from? I'm in the UK.

My Eternal HDD's keep disconnecting. Is there an issue with windows 10 and this machine?
How to install decent USB drivers?
On the clevo website it only had USB drivers for windows 7
Please helps it's really annoying - my steam account is on my external HDD.
    Thanks

Have you tried a different port? Multiple drives could be placing a heavy load if they are usb powered.

Different ports seem to have the same result.
Any power options I can change, or Drivers I can download?
    Thanks
