    Oh cool, didn't realize I'd be able to upgrade that high, thanks! How would I go about checking whether I have a first release BIOS or an HM BIOS? (I don't know what the HM stands for).

    HM is the series of machine,

    HM = 2nd Gen I7
    EM = 3rd Gen I7 (also can run 2nd gen but happens rarely)
    SM = 4th Gen i7

    You would have to check bios versions with the reseller. Check the guides on the forum for each card as they have specific versions.

    Hello every1.
    I am living in Greece and I have a clevo P151HM1P. This is the 3rd time that the motherboard dies and I can not find any motherboard spare parts.
    Does any1 know where I can buy a new motherboard?

    Well if your reseller wont help then there is ebay, P150hm motherboards should also work.

    Hi,

    My Sager NP8130 from 2011 is having the same power problem. The green light of the power adapter can be on, but when I plug it into the laptop then the green light is off. I think the power adapter works well but there is completely no power going into the laptop, even with or without battery.

    Should I send it for repair? It looks like it will cost a few hundreds to replace the motherboard.

    Either the board is damaged and shorting the brick 9th or the brick is damaged and can't power a load. If the brick needs replacing it's not too bad. If the motherboard does either do the work yourself with a cheap board off the likes of eBay or compare your repair cost vs the cost of a modern system.

    I brought the laptop for service and they confirmed the motherboard dead.

    Now I have two choices:
    - Buy another motherboard from eBay. Mine is a Clevo P151HM1, which a Clevo P150HM can still fit. This costs nearly 300 and I hesitate as the laptop is 4 years old.
    - Buy another barebone and try to reuse the CPU (Intel i7-2620M), GPU (nVidia GTX460M), and RAM.

    Will those new barebones from Clevo support my old CPU and GPU?

    No, the EM is the only other system to support your CPU. Then again a NP7339 barebone offers a lot more performance than your setup.
