Hmmmm,I think it won't be included in new notebooks until MSI gets rid of all the 1st generation N1525 with Bluetooth 4.0 that has pairing issues

Hi geno sorry to bother you, i have MSI GE72 2QD Apache and recently i have processor throttling problem every time speedstep enabled in the BIOS.
and here is some logs from event viewer

    No Speedstep
    [IMG]

    Speedstep Enabled
    [IMG]

    Throttling to 1.2GHz

    Power Options

Is the problem caused by BIOS? Adapter? other Hardware?

I already reflash the BIOS-EC and tried the older BIOS-EC too.

Edit: this only happened when playing games or benchmarking.

Is the problem present when not using speedstep on bios?

No, when Speedstep disabled there's no throttle at all.

Here's HWiNFO64 Log when doing Fire Strike. (Speedstep On)

    Some new Log

Edit: When on normal usage (such as browsing, watch movies) HWiNFO shows 3.2Ghz as minimum. is that normal?

That is odd behaviour. I have a similar issue but worse on my lenovo T540p. When I enable inted speed step on bios, it gets stuck to 800mhz all cores, forever and I can't raise it. This does not happen at all with any of the T540p from my coworkers.

Maybe something is installed that is causing the issue? I don't know. For now I would suggest to disable intel speedstep. Even if disabled, it doesn't mean it will load the CPU hard or anything. I use 100% state on all my MSI laptops and battery is not very affected when idle or light tasks, thanks to good TDP control.

Yeah, for now i'll disable Speedstep, but with speedstep being disabled i can't get the Turbo speed.
I'm suspecting that the PSU might cause the CPU to throttle since it's only 120W or the BIOS has bad Power Management.

Hey ryzeki would you capture your GT80 Event Viewer, is there something like in my Event Viewer?

Oh one more thing (this is why i also suspect the BIOS)
Every time it throttles, Event Viewer logs this.

Interesting, I don't have anything in my event viewer like that. The PSU might be a limit and they hardcoded a TDP limit so that you can't strain the PSU with too much power. Maybe resellers can help out too, along with Geno, to find out if this is a BIOS limit that can be overriden.

Geno, i have a GS70 with 970m and have a few questions for you:
    - Will Steelseries engine 3 make it way to GS70?
    - Can my GS70 run Nahimic? It's originally not supported. But i hope it's just a software, and i can use it after a BIOS update.
    - I'm testing Windows 10 and find that Sound Blaster Cinema 2 not compatible, will it be in the future?
Thanks ahead, Geno! Great machine so far.
