When are the new MSI laptops, which debuted at computex, coming out? Specifically the new raider?

Are there any MSI laptops on which Optimus is not required (ie, I could switch to just use the NV card always)? I'm on my second MSI laptop now (GS73VR) and it too has started having display issues (not detecting HDMI connection, sometimes no display on panel). I like MSI's support so far but I'd rather not need it at all. This is a desktop replacement used both for gaming and for work (CAD/programming), so it's always plugged in anyway.

At the moment 99% of the Notebooks with GSync do not have Optimus.

You could get the GT73VR or GT75VR with the GPU MUX switch. You select either dGPU (Nvidia) or iGPU (Intel) and reboot into it, then you can switch back and reboot again to switch.

That way you can run iGPU on battery or dGPU on AC.

    No Optimus is involved :)

Note that we don't have any details on the GT75VR, I am assuming MSI continues that functionality with the new model from the GT73VR. MSI did drop the MUX switch from the GT80 to GT80S, so it might happen with the GT75VR, check to make sure it's included before purchase if that's important to you. If it's not included then it will be dGPU only - still no Optimus :)

Is there a reason MSI cut back on the 2 year warranty to a 1 year warranty? Given that the prices of laptops has been going up lately, it seems like you'll get less for your money now.

The 2 year warranty plus 1 year accident protection was a big MSI selling point.

It's still 2 years in the USA + 3 months if you register within 14 (3?) days.

    I got 2 years + 3 months - registered the day I bought it.

Asus has dropped down to 1 year quite a few years ago, but you can purchase a 2nd year for about $125(?).

Maybe the low end laptops only get 1 Year now?

The warranty page still lists "most models" as getting 2 years:

"Global Warranty period : 1 year base-on purchase date.
2 year Limited warranty (Include 1 Year Global) on most models.
1 year Limited warranty (Include 1 Year Global) on select models."

I dunno - even the new GT and GS series were showing 1 year on the product page. It would be nice if MSI would clarify.

And starting around $2200 - I don't consider those new Raiders to be low end. Not at that price. GL and GP series maybe ...
