Once again, thanks a lot for the valuable information.
A last thing you didn't mention is battery life. Does having the 1060 wired to do all the work drain the battery more? If you've ever tried using the laptop on battery, What do you think about it?

PCPartsPicker's laptop section doesn't yet have the new generation laptops listed. Is there a good place to go where I can compare all the new laptops across all dimensions? I like being able to sort of filter everything out like here.

To put it bluntly the battery life is poor. I will test later, but I think you can expect somewhere around 90-120 minutes on very very light loads with the screen brightness turned way down. I would not buy this laptop if battery life was a need. If you need battery life you need a laptop with either Optimus or an even better option is an laptop with a physical GPU switch or BIOS graphics switching option. Clevo offers such an option and IMO MSI should have done this as well for the price of this laptop.

This is interesting, same with your temps. Did you repaste? My RMA just got accepted and approved from Newegg for my Asus RoG gl502vs w/1070 and now I'm looking for something else. I'm in college now and do a bart ton of studying at work so I was looking at the MSI gs43vr but I can't find out if it has Gsync or not.
