This is a very large thread, so forgive me if it has already been covered, but would it be possible for Gigabyte to release a firmware update to allow intel xmp profiles to run properly? CPU-Z says I'm running at 2400MHz despite having RAM rated for up to 3000MHz (so it should only downclock to 2666MHz). I understand that there is both a JEDEC and an XMP rating, so my question would be "Should I wait for a firmware update that lets my RAM run faster, or just find a different, 2666MHz JEDEC rated RAM set?"

If I remember correctly it is in the name, the GB is 24.21.13.9982. And usually they take the last 5 number as the nVidia version, so the last 5 numbers are 3.9982 which translate to 399.82 in nVidia. However, nVidia doesnt have 399.82 version but a 398.82 version.

@g85222456 What the point of having smart update while it doesnt show the latest version on it? Sometime the website have newer version while sometime the smart update has the latest version. Can it be more uniform?

Which one do you have? v7 or v8?

v8, with the i7-8750H, which came with one stick of 16GB 2666MHz JEDEC rated V-Color RAM running at it's proper speed of 2666MHz. I ordered two 16GB sticks of G.Skill 2666MHz RAM, but they shipped me 3000MHz instead, so I thought it would just downclock properly. However it's only JEDEC rated for 2400MHz, vs it's XMP profile of 3000. Doing some brief searching around on google, there is some evidence to suggest that the G.Skill RAM actually listed as 2666 runs AT JEDEC 2666, so I may ask newegg for a return and swap it out for what I actually ordered. :p

Unless, of course, Gigabyte can issue a BIOS update to support XMP profiles...

If that doesn't work, I guess I'll try Kingston, this PDF says it's JEDEC compliant. https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX426S15IB2_16.pdf

As for V-Color, I can NOT find a listing of the RAM that came with it anywhere. I searched TN416G26D819-SB, and the only available listing I can find is from this link https://24h.pchome.com.tw/prod/DRAC13-A90095WGM, some chinese site with a ludicrous markup.

The memory for this computer is so picky. Still waiting for a BIOS update for dual channel for some of the memory. The GSkill 16GB 2400MHz only work in the slot near CPU but not the other.

Maybe you can sell the 3000MHz, then buy the 2666MHz and PROFIT?

I got it through newegg, and I've already had them refund a stick of Corsair Vengeance 2666 memory because it just flat out was not compatible with the stock RAM and put the laptop in a boot loop (had to wait for the battery to die because every time I pressed the power button to turn it off it just turned right back on with no keyboard or display light-up). Now I'll have to wait likely another 3 weeks to send it back and have them send me what I ordered originally. It's just a big headache...

I'm somehow miraculously running dual channel Corsairs at 2666. When I first swapped and every time I do a BIOS update, I get stuck on that boot loop, but the machine just powers through and boots up. Here's a video I made where I catch the tail end of the boot-up:

There's only one DDI injected so it could support only one display. But you could still connect multiple monitor through daisy chain however all of the display will show the same screen
