Well, the long awaited 9c.08.00 BIOS is here for download. The Level 2 Tech from Gateway called me about 20 minutes ago to get my preferred Email address. And straight from Gateway's BIOS Coding Team.. I give you..

9C.08.00 BIOS for the Gateway P-7811FX - Fully Functional! - Please skip EDIT's for access to the BIOS download.

EDIT 10.22.2008 - OC support confirmed, Quad-core support denied. See Email at the Bottom of this page

All BIOS support also functions on the p7801, and p7805U FX Series As Well... We now have 9c.05.00 thru version 9c.12.00 for download below.

EDIT: All install problems have been resolved. Below you will Find an Email from the company who created the BIOS for Gateway. Please click the FTP Links to download the proper BIOS for your system. I've cut & paste the Email from Wistron, and it gives very simple to understand instructions.

    Email Begins Here:
This is Margaret Lin, who is in charge of IMV SW related issue. Our BIOS team usually won’t directly face the client or the end user, so I will take care of your problem form now.

There are 2 ways for you to update the BIOS, and I will explain you in detail below:

    1. DOS mode

    a. First at all you need a DOS bootable USB device for enter the DOS mode.

    b. Ensure that the DOS package has been unzip and save into the DOS bootable USB device

    c. After ensuring you are in the DOS mode, you will go to the saved filed directory

    d. Type in the command of “BIOS.bat”

    e. Then the flash process should be started

Below is the link for you to download the DOS package of IMV-026

    ftp://MilkaPM:Belem8217@ftp.wistron.com.tw/MI1/SW/Firmware/BIOS/IMV-026.zip

    2. Windows Mode

    a. Before using the windows mode package, you need to ensure what OS you are on. Vista 32 or Vista 64?

    b. Inside the package, you should copy the right folder into your system

    c. Run the executable file in “Administrators” Mode è select the executable file and click. You will see an option in string of “Administrators”. Select it to start the flashing process.

Below is the link for you to download the Windows package of IMV-026

    ftp://MilkaPM:Belem8217@ftp.wistron.com.tw/MI1/SW/Firmware/WinFlash/IMV-026W.zip

For any concern or question, please kindly let me know. Thank you.

    Best Regards,

In addition, 2 more BIOSes are being coded for the 7811FX.. Version 27 and 28, they are available for download if you login to the FTP Via FTP Client under the same Directories as these are located. They are adding support for the Quad-Core CPUs being released here in the days to come. I wouldn't recommend flashing v28 or v27 to your system, as they are still testing and working out the bugs.
Here's notes on the 2 new BIOSes being worked on.. And they're from Taiwan, please excuse the grammar. ;)

Thanks to all those who have assisted in bringing this BIOS public.

EDIT: I've included the download links for the 2 newer BIOSes.. 9c.09.00 and 9c.10.00. Version 27 and 28. As you can see above, they are still in testing phases.. Also, included original 9c.05.00 BIOS v21. I installed 9c.10.00 last night, and I don't notice any differences with my x9100. Still no overclock option, and everything else looks the exact same. Im sure there's some things changed that I *can't* see.. But, nevertheless..here are the links to all 3 files.. 64Bit and DOS Flash.

Keep in mind, once you start the executable for Windows version, there is *no* turning back. And DOS Boot, same thing.. Your flash will continue, and do not interupt. You can flash back if you like, but please don't risk it if you're not capable of fixing any problem you create for yourself. Thanks, and good luck. :)

    DOS Versions:
    9c.05.00 v21

    9c.09.00 v27

    9c.10.00 v28

    Windows flavors:
    9c.05.00 BIOS v21

    9c.09.00 BIOS v27

    9c.10.00 BIOS v28

    Followup to 10.22.2008 Edit
Ok guys.. here's the word from Wistron. The 9c.10.00 BIOS does not fully support Quad-core. The 7811FX and other FX series *can* OC past 3.0GHz. Here's the email response from last night:

    Dear Eirk,

Below is the reply for your concern:
    1. I have no idea who works in Gateway can make the decision for your request, sorry.
    2. with your current Gateway system (IMV), you won't be able to use Quad core cpu, but yes you will be able to use the dual core exterme CPU.
    3. for overclock feature, BIOS can make the X9100 (dual extreme CPU) clock above 3.0GHz, but there is possibility to make your system to become unstable.
** for over clock featuer, intel has announice that they don't warranty that system can keep stable. (there is official doc)

For any concern or question, please kindly let me know.
    thank you.

    Subject: RE: 9c.10.00 BIOS support

    Margaret,

I spoke with Gateway Tech Support today, I was told that I'll need to contact corporate to have them send you an email for my request. The tech support team doesn't have authorization to provide it, because it will void my warranty with the new CPU installed. I know you say I must contact Gateway/Acer support team.. Who do I need to contact to release authorization? Is there someone in particular that I have to get to contact you?

Also, does BIOS 9c.10.00 provide quad core support? If so, then I don't need to keep contacting Gateway. Or, is there a BIOS that I am unaware of for Quad core support? One final question, if Gatewy contacts you, can you allow the BIOS to overclock past 3.0GHz with the x9100? I know you are a busy person, I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to assist me. If possible, please assist with all of the previous questions. Thanks so much!

    Erik G.

So, looks like Gateway isn't supporting Quad core. Altho, she sent me an email previously saying it is supported. *shrugs* And she still says it can be OC'd.. they just have to implement it. I'll see if someone at Gateway's Corporate office can be of assistance.

I'm running XP. I'll have to find a compatible flash utility or use Phlash16.
For me it'll probably be flashed over the weekend as I have an infant about....and no time to sit.

XP-32Bit. When I went to the Gateway site you specified it shot a notice that my OS is incompatible with the utility....then I noticed the OS designation of Vista 32.
