A panel needs to be whitelisted in the BIOS of the laptop to enable GSync. If it isn't listed, the driver will not enable the feature. Another pointless limiter on NVIDIA's part.

Pointless except for their profit. They charge a lot from OEMs to certify, just like they charge a lot for the physical chip that goes into desktop gsync monitors.

Management has a duty to maximise shareholder returns... no such duty to provide value for money to customers

The official line is if it's going to have their name on it then they want it tested and certified before release.

The point being is that a panel can be certified as GSync compatible, yet if the OEM doesn't include it on their whitelist, it will not work.

    So i decided to go for new screen - 17.3" Full HD (1920x1080) 144Hz~9ms IPS-level 72% NTSC Matte Type Display - w/ nVIDIA® G-SYNC™ Technology (B173HAN03.1)

Probably will grap one from aliexpress. There is one thing. I can't find anywhere what kind of eDP connector is on motherboard (30 pin or 40 pin) Z270.

    According to eurocom - - 17.3-inch 60Hz;FHD IPS 1920x1080; MATTE (Non-Glare); 300nts; 700:1; 72% NTSC; eDP 30pin; P/N LP173WF4 SPD1 - my screen is using 30 pin connector cable. Does it mean that motherboard have only 30 pin socket?

Port can do either. Separate cables for 30pin/2 lane and 40pin/4 lane panels. Check service manual (find on premamod.com) for part numbers. If its the same as the DM/DM3 the 40 pin cable ends in a L

(I'd find it for you but my lappy is in bits right now while sizing up a custom CPU heatsink and doing anything on my phone is painful)

Yes the motherboard supports up to 40 pins as above with 30 pins using a different cable.

Looks like the missing pins on Z170/Z270 have no effect on performance or stability :)
