    I do have audio.

Also, I figured out the thing can actually see that something is detected. For some reason it decides to hide in device manager the touchpad. Had to unhide it apparently.

It's throwing a code 24 and using the generic driver or any variant of the synaptics one didn't work.

I am curious about measuring the smbus activity and that potential fix you mentioned

If you can see it in Dev manager then there is activity. Bad signals will result that is not detected at all. Error 24 is unknown to me.

Definitely a better way is to just test another touchpad just to figure out which one is having a problem, or yours on another machine.

Yeah that is what sucks. I can't seem to source a touchpad, at least not at a reasonable price and I've tried resellers locally. Basically I am looking at 100$+ with no return policy just for a touchpad.

Code 24 is the error that states the device isn't present or has wrong drivers loaded. A bit of an older error.

I do see that the touchpad apparently sits on the ps/2 bus? At least that is the generic driver it is trying to load

Maybe your account doesn't have admin rights but user only. Create a new local one with administrator rights and try
