This literally why I bought the x170sm-g rather than a ryzen-based machine.

I am curious since a lot of you like to benchmark stuff, I would like to see a maxed out X170SM-G benchmarked against a loaded 15 or 16 inch Macbook Pro and see which laptop wins the bench mark? and the Macbook Pro is at least $1500-$2000 more expensive (not including a warranty like AppleCare) that will add at least another $300-$600 on top of the Macbook Pro.

First of all, they are called JokeBooks for a reason. :D There is absolutely no comparison between the two. X170SM-G is a monster as compared the most powerful JokeBook arround in all aspects you can possibly imagine.

Most desktop based clevo machines (non bga) would destroy any Mac book. Bga is filth that has plagued the world. Though I like what amd has done with the 5000 series it's still bga which means no upgrading and if you got issue it means replacing the entire mobo. If amd got oems to make a 570 series where you could socket a 5000 series processor id buy! Forget macs.

It also means that repair techs are brainwashed into thinking that this is always the solution and very few people know how to read a schematic and actually repair something with a soldering iron.

Ok so this is a dumb question, but how do these logitech unifying usb receivers work? the mouse only comes with 1, yet you can use the mouse with up to 3 laptops / computers at once with only 1 receiver? lol I don't want to buy $500 in mice for 5 laptops.

As far as I am concerned they are obsolete. 1tb SSDs are so cheap there really is no need to purchase a 5400 RPM drive. Spinning platters has died a long death. I don't care how cheap they are to buy!!! LMAO!!!

That's right. I have **** skill with a soldering iron myself lol. That's why I was terrified to do a shunt mod to my 2080ti lol

It’s been a long time since I’ve done it myself. But based on some people I see do it I probably could do it better than most still. It erks me everytime I see someone leave a non shiny solder joint and say “that’s good enough”.

I’d be scared to mess with a $1000 gpu also. I just leave mine be and enjoy what it can do out of the box. Though it’s collecting a lot of dust since I’ve got my x170. I really need to decide if I’m gonna sell it or not since I’m sure there is someone that would want it since gpus are hard to come by.

As a cheap, low power and quiet storage device they have a place, just not as a primary drive.
