Nice! Looks like you've got it running well. That is right about where it should be at stock clocks even for a desktop.

Still looking forward to seeing your CCC exorcism instructions.

Here are my latest runs for CBR20 and 23. 50x on all cores.

And, running my desktop with the same 50x on all cores... level playing field (excluding thermals, of course)

Yes, it's one of the binned samples from the zTecpc armory. I am binning them to tighter standards than Silicon Lottery does. They're rejecting CPUs with a bin quality that is not up to zTecpc minimum standards and letting them go someplace like eBay. Having CPUs that can run with lower voltage is an important component of thermal management even more than overclocking, especially in a laptop. You can have a great cooling system with a crappy CPU that needs too much voltage and it will never run cool enough unless you use something much better than air or an ordinary AIO water chiller.

I also salute you Donald and THANK YOU to Prema for working on a proper BIOS for the X-170SMG. I also appreciate MRFOXs work on the cooling solution because the 10900Ks in this notebook are a furnace out of the box. I will definitely be ordering from ztecPC and Donald when the X-170SMG gets updated with RTX 3080s notebook edition when they get released. After i see tests of course.

Ah, that'd be why then. Very nice chip there.

Probably not gonna be sold to us plebs though, so silicon lottery will sadly have to be my outlet. ;) I figure if I can get a 10700k that runs at 5.2 or 5.3ghz on 1.35v, get it delidded, etc, then it should do 5ghz around 1.2-ish. (since my current can do 4.9)

That should certainly be doable. 10700K is a great CPU as well. Much easier to tame the temps and excellent for gaming.

Hopefully that won’t be to far out. Looks like early 2021 we will atleast start seeing announcements for RTX 3000 laptops. Fingers crossed they make an mxm card. Though I’ll be curious to see what the performance is if they stay with 200w.

I have posted the guide here regarding how to completely strip the OC component from CCC and remove the lower throttle temperature limits that it imposes on the CPU:

    In case anyone is interested.
