Both my two Clevos from them. Communication was always precise and replies came swift. Order came in time. No (unexpected ;-) ) issues so far.

VRM burnt out? Was it a squarish chip?

Seems like one of the CPU mosfets. And since this happened during Windows install cat and mouse game as it was rebooting repeatedly, there was no serious load on the CPU. It was so bad that the chip actually cracked in half.

CLEVO X170SM-G Latest Drivers with the correct installation order =

Make sure to right click on the file you just downloaded, go to Properties, then hit Unblock from the bottom right as it may be blocked since it was downloaded from the internet, if you don't do this before you run the file or extract it, then it may not install correctly.

To prevent this automatic blocking of files in the future so you don't have to go unblocking every file you download to ensure it runs properly, follow the guide in this thread:

Changelog? Clevo doesn't provide changelogs and they have only 4 drivers on their official site. Sager has them all except for the fingerprint scanner driver but has an outdated Control Center version so I compiled this list in the proper installation order, substituted the IRST Driver with the latest and latest LAN/WLAN Drivers.

Hmm that does seem bad but not too bad. I reckon if the mosfet cracked before any more damage could be done, there may be a chance that removing the mosfet, cleaning up the solder pads and the junk around it will allow the laptop to turn on again. Not all mosfets are needed for power delivery although it does make it easier to balance wattage when there are more :)

BTW is that an NCP mosfet?

Will let you know from the replacement machine that I get. Not sure about this one as I didn't read the part numbers.
