@Prema does extensive beta testing and tweaking before introducing v1 of his BIOS products to market. When it's done it's done. Even after it is offered, he will constantly refine and update them.

In summary, it's done when it's done. :)

This laptop will be old in about 5 months once the 3080 drops in laptops, I think he missed the mark on this one.

I wonder how a 3080 will perform even at 200w since the desktop wattage in those is very high. It should be faster but the performance gap shrinks as the wattage gap widens from desktop into laptop.

“Rumor” has it that the 115w GPU laptop spec will be moved up to 140w. No telling who will take advantage of this or how this will scale across other GPUs in laptops but it’s telling of the need to increase the wattage on 3k series in order to justify its performance over 2k series. Laptops speaking of course.

The cores are pushed pretty hard into the exponential part of their power curve in the 3080.

Missed the mark how? Does the laptop suddenly not improve with it when it is released to OEMs? Are current owners who are eligible for it not able to take advantage? People who buy these will own them for
years not months. However well your system is performing now, it will be more customizable and perform better when it arrives. When it ships, and you're eligible, you get it. No more; no less.

You can always send him a laptop to test, because one problem that he usually had was lack of real hardware to test, maybe now with XMG they are lending/offering him a laptop and various CPUs, GPUs, RAM sticks and NVMe drives so he can test his firmware mods..

BIOS modding like @Prema does isn't going into an editor and making visible a couple extra menus..

I wish/hope PC Specialist would get on that and then offer the BIOS as an add-on "upgrade" for those of us who already bought the machine.

I just weighed it empty and it's showing 3.6 lb. (1.65 KG) on my luggage scale. It drops to 1.45 KG if I remove the little sleeve they include. It just has a lot of pockets and padding and is well made.

I picked up the 1TB 970 Evo Plus and it performs about the same as the 1TB 970 Pro that my friend has in his HP Omen. There are benchmarks online that show the same thing. In the end though you won't really notice any speed difference unless you're performing some very extreme tasks. I have some of my steam library on a 512GB SATA M.2 and they load almost as fast as the ones on the 970.
