Nice specs! When customizing it, I went for the Conductonaut (I honestly don't know if it's the best), 1TB 970Evo, and Windows 10 Pro with USB.

It really depends on whether you enjoy tuning your system or not. If you're not a tinkerer like me, Papusan, Mr. Fox, or others on this forum, then it's not worth the extra cost as you wouldn't be taking advantage of the features it provides. However if you are a tinkerer, you can use it to extract every last drop of performance from the system, in which case it's worth the extra cost.

If you just want to run everything stock, save your money. This laptop is still REALLY good even at stock settings.

I went with IC Diamond because it's supposed to be the longest lasting thermal. Most of them last 2 years, this stuff allegedly lasts 4+ years.

Does anyone have a PCIe Gen4 SSD in the right slot and additional drives in the others? If so, has it been stable for you?

When I got mine all my drives were in the left three slots and I opened things up and moved the Gen4 one over to get the expected performance. Once in there though I started getting random BSODs (WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR and DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE) pointing at pcie/GenuineIntel.sys in addition to hard crashes without a BSOD or a dump file.

Apparently, in the service manual, it says that only "one" pcie4 drive is supported but the manual it ships with indicates otherwise. Huge bummer if it really does only support one or the other :(

I have the same question. I'm only able to find the previous gen service manual online.

The Gen 4 drive you moved, was it your C drive?
