    What's your opinion on backplates for memory chips on the back? Unnecessary?

    Reseated, repasted and checked the pads last night.
    Small improvement but still issues. Looks like all area has good pad coverage, but I think the gap between core and heatsink is large as it needs alot of paste.

    Sometime in the future I am going to upgrade to a 1070 and for that I guess I need the 200w heatsink.
    How does that heatsink fit the 980m?

    If you buy the MSI 1070 then you can still use the 980M heatsink or you can get the 980DT heatsink and do a bit of modding to get it to fit nicely. I've done the mod myself and it works great.

    Brave? You mean like that nutcase who bought $1250usd of seconds MXM GPUs from the other side of the world via ebay and shoehorned them into a 5 year old laptop with no functional display?
