Yep, just saw this night after posting.
Intel : we provide a new cpu for the same socket, but still incompatible. What else...

I had the same bluescreen on my p775dm3.
    It was a defective cpu.

    Woah

I'm sorry to hear that... This doesn't seem to be the case here though , it was a wild error that appeared once, not everything works alright. No idea what caused it or why, maybe something like a bad video driver?

What did it say in smaller text below the irql? Mine said synaptic something and updating the track pad diver fixed it.

Look for that text next time and it will help guide you to the driver involved.

You can also look at the event logs for more info on this one instead of waiting for another.

Are you overclocking, under volting? I got my voltage to low and got bsod of death but I knew I caused that pushing to limits trying to cool things.

It was under warranty so no problem ;)

I think my was a worst case scenario, and that it is more likely to be a driver error.
I also had some other issues then the BSOD's

Nothing sesizable, -100mV on CPU and 4.0 GHz so a bit of underclock. It shouldn't have a panic attack, been working with those settings for a long time.

I didn't have time to read what happened , the BSOD cleared too fast. I just reinstalled windows though...

No issues here. Happily, it is still under warrantty, so I've no reason to worry, I think that maybe the latest Nvidia drivers aren't up to the task.

I was playing a video in madVR before this happened.

You can go to the Windows event viewer and read all the errors and warnings that happen. You can also get dmp dump logs from there for more info.
