    That's fairly well used then. What happens if you play with the windows power setting, keeping it on say high performance? Does the behaviour change?

    I usually do the opposit on max battery life but I'll try high performance and report

    It will help if it's a high load condition or a low load drop out.

    ok so after a few weeks of use, I didn't have a single shutdown after leaving it on "high performance" so it seems you found the problem, thank you.

    So if I understand it right, the cpu voltage in idle drops too low when the pc is set to "power saving" for some reason ?

    With adaptive voltage and with an decent undervolt you risk too low voltage when clocks drops.

    Offset lowers the whole curve so it's a larger percentage effectively at idle and you can drop below the cut off voltage for the CPU where it is simply not possible to operate the silicon.

    So my Clevo Batman went tits up again today. It had been running with an FX1800 gpu after the 980 piled in last year and W10 was forever resetting it to its 'best driver', ie 1280 x 720 and I was kind of sick of fudging the Vista x64 driver and having it crap out on VLC and Amazon Prime anyway (/whinge).

    So no video out to local screen, HDMI or either Dport, but no beeps or suggestion thermal or ram error either, nor led wink code.

    As such I'm not spending another penny on it. The 4790K and 32GB Ram are going on eBay and I'm keeping the storage.

    However I'm up for giving away the rest as spares to hopefully help some other poor bugger, all I ask is postage is met;

    Shell, with screen - I assume screen works and its the GPU that's dead. It went back twice to have the gpu cable reattached to the back of the screen. I worked out how to do it myself 3rd time round.

    Motherboard, bought May 2018 and fitted by PC Specialist (£210).

    Can leave mobo in shell as whole unit with heat-sink and fans.

    2 x Batteries, one barely used.

    330w PSU

    3 fans, 1 original, 2 from Ali-b aftermarket.

    Sending battries might be an issue with Royal Mail, so will have to pick a courier that allows. Apply within, UK preferred but as I say, so long as postage is met. Happy to send pictures, serial number and copy of my PCS order before anyone parts with money and just to reiterate all items are Free of Charge and assumed to be spares or repair, no refund or return.

    Will check back here periodically.

    Chesham, I'd be willing to make the drive as I'd get the stuff free. It would be worth the diesel money, since I have a golf tdi bluemotion that shouldn't be much of a problem anyway...
